TRUE LAB @SIAM SOI 3

Siam Square is internationally known as a central business district area of Bangkok, Thailand and it also is a center of Thai youth culture and fashion shopping since 1964. It is the common name given to a geographic area spreading from Pathumwan area. Until the economic turmoil in 1998, a major redevelopment has been implemented including the public infrastructure such as mass transit train service or BTS Skytrain. It enhances Siam Square to be a transit connection in Bangkok and as a result, the commercial building has become skyscraper buildings.

TRUE is a group of telecommunication established in 1990, TRUE space is located in the middle of Siam Square Soi 2, Soi 3 and also the area inside Digital Gateway including Coffee Shop and Customer Service Area

The architect uses the conceptual design to connect these three areas altogether in the symbol of ‘Node’ network connection by implementing a coffee shop to be a connection spot with other facilities in the building.

TRUE Robotic lab in Siam Square Soi 3 is in the middle of fashion and IT gadget shopping. The inspiration derives from a smooth building surface, resembles of fabric for the front display. It can also be well ventilated and sun protection. By creating these 4 layers of building surface, it also elaborates Scale and friendly material with other architectural elements and encompass all changes to be compatible with current innovative changes this robotic laboratory is a co-research with Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, by adopting a Coffee Shop on ground floor to encompass 3 entrances to the building, the existing staircase is small and not linked with other spaces.

Now it has been connecting by using a polished stainless steel in dark tone.

One of the problems from this building is the natural sun shine from the south and the west, resulting in using shades in this area almost the whole day. Facade design is reflecting this problem and trying to adopt anti-glaring sunshine and surrounding advertising board so the façade design will reduce this strong glare and can transport such ventilation to reduce the heat load on the curtain wall surface with a softer natural light.
